ABOUT THE TEAM
As Senior Merchant Risk Manager you will be reporting to the Head of Acquiring Risk. You're an expert steering multiple risk teams across different business units, partly also outside the Acquiring domain. You'll be working from one of the Unzer offices whereby travelling to the other offices on an exceptional basis will be part of the job. We expect you to manage strategic risks and merchant compliance-related projects and initiatives.
WHAT WILL YOU DO
- Manage and oversee the merchant risk program, including identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring of risks associated with payment card processing, alternative payments and fraud prevention.
- Monitor merchant transaction data to identify potential fraudulent activity and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to investigate and resolve incidents.
- Provide training and support to internal teams and external partners on merchant risk management, fraud prevention, and chargeback management.
- Maintain technical roadmaps for strategic tool implementations
- Orchestrate policies and governance
- Lead post-merger risk integrations, and alignments in terms of policies and procedures
- Assure Risk data quality
- Strategic business case modelling, design concepts to enter new (high-risk) verticals including mitigation strategies
- Steer our risk business units/teams with risk and compliance-related card scheme updates and support changes/implementation accordingly through policy updates and procedures
- Steer our risk business units/teams with regulatory changes related to regulated high-risk merchant business types and defining vertical acceptance strategies and policies
- Consult the organization with PCI DSS-related topics
- Negotiate with and steer relevant partners and suppliers, e.g. credit scoring agencies, third-party enrichment data providers, fraud prevention providers etc.
- Assist Key Account sales teams with RFIs, complex prospects and selling transaction risk checks as a value-added product
YOUR PROFILE
- You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years’ experience in payments-related risk management positions
- You're analytical and possess problem-solving skills, and have an eye for detail and the willingness to challenge the status quo ongoingly
- You're enthusiastic and have a hands-on mentality in supporting different teams across different jurisdictions
- You're a team player and have the ability to persuade team members, peers and superiors to ideas
- Strong knowledge of payment card industry regulations, guidelines, and card scheme rules, including Visa, Mastercard, and other relevant networks.
- You have knowledge of high-risk underwriting, including experience in assessing and managing high-risk merchants and industries
- You're experienced in transaction monitoring, fraud detection, and chargeback management
- You have demonstrable experience in project management
- You're fluent both verbally and in writing in German and English (Danish as a plus)

It's possible to join the team in Frankfurt am Main, Munich, Vienna, or Grevenmacher (Luxembourg). Please note this role requires regular travelling to other locations.
