We are currently in the process of recruiting individuals to work the bars of WHOLE Festival, a 4-day electronic music camping festival featuring a cross-section of Berlin’s underground queer scene + International artists, located in Ferropolis, Gräfenhainichen, 2 hours outside of Berlin by public transport.
Each year, around 10.000 guests attend the festival, which is home to 10 bars, each with varying size, staff number, operating hours, and drinks selection.
Our work schedule has been thoughtfully designed to provide flexibility in shift length while ensuring a minimum of 2 shifts per person. This approach aims to support our staff in maintaining focus and preventing exhaustion.

Job Description, Shift Team Lead, WHOLE 2023
● Staff Management: Manage and supervise the bar staff during your shift,
ensuring adherence to protocols and standards.
● Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day operations, including stock
management, inventory monitoring, and maintaining a clean and safe bar
area.
● Problem-Solving: Address issues and emergencies that arise, such as
resolving staff conflicts or troubleshooting operational problems.
● Communication: Maintain clear and timely communication with bar staff and
management, sharing information, relaying feedback, and reporting incidents
or concerns.
● Shift Scheduling: Coordinate breaks.
● Shifts will range from 9-12 hours, with breaks.
● Hour Wage of 18 Euros.
● Minimum of 2 shifts with the possibility of more shifts if desired.
What we offer:
Accommodation
- Crew camping: A central location close to the festival, with shared showers
and toilets. This area is designated for Crew only.
- You will need to bring your own tent and everything that is needed for cozy
camping.
- As we don’t offer lockers, you can bring your own locker, if this makes you feel
more comfortable.
- Free entrance to the festival.
Travel
- You are responsible for all travel costs.
- 50% Bassliner voucher on demand/according to availability.
- Collective shuttle vans from the train station (Dessau) on Thursday at 3
different time slots.
- Free shuttles from camping to the festival during the festival.
- You can arrive at the Festival by car/carpool, we will only need your plate
number, so we have control of cars on site.
Meals
- Soft drinks are available during working hours as well as a food voucher for
each shift worked. For example, when working 2 shifts you will receive 2 food
vouchers, when working 3 shifts you will receive 3 food vouchers, etc.
- We suggest you bring food such as fresh fruits, snack packs, chocolate bars,
protein bars, and anything you would pack on a camping trip, including
Electrolyte so that you can take care of your body and be sure you are
hydrated.
- Throughout the Festival site, you can find water stations.
What we need from you :
- Experience in Hospitality, ideally in the bar setting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- A team-oriented mindset. You enjoy working with others and have great
communication skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability. Festivals can be unpredictable, with fluctuating
customer volumes and unexpected situations. Being able to adapt and handle
changes with a positive attitude is essential.
- Reliability and trustworthiness.
- You are part of or an ally to the queer community and value inclusivity.
Discrimination will not be tolerated.
Contracts and additional hiring details:
- Mini-Job contracts that reach a max of 520€.
- (Kurzfristig) Short-term contracts allow employees to work full-time for 4 days
a week for 9 hours, with lump sum taxation required for tax class specification.
- (Abrufvertrag) On-call contracts require liability for social security for the
period, and only tax classes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 are possible for those with main
employment, while all other tax classes may be possible.
Important information regarding ALG 1, ALG 2, Bafög, and working VISA:
- Applicants need to declare the job with their AA and The personnel
questionnaire must then state that they are receiving benefits from AA.
- All students are eligible, they just have to know how much they are allowed to
earn or ask the BaföG office how much they are allowed to make. Here it
depends on how high your BaföG is.
- This is written directly on the respective residence permit. Either a work permit
(then they can earn as much as possible) or a work permit for 10 or 20
hours/week or month is limited to the hours.
